COCKTAILS | A WEE DRAM
Campbeltown
Springbank 15yr Chef Mark Filatow's personal favourite….So Far This single malt is truly worthy of the most discerning of palates. Dark chocolate, figs, marzipan, and Brazil nuts line the nose of this beautiful whiskey. The palate is caressed with hints of vanilla and sweet sherry, while the finish leaves a lingering feeling of elegance and warmth.
Highland
Aberlour 10yr Spey side - Aberlour 10yr offers both harmony of price and palate. With its sweet sherry, toffee and honey nose combined with a lingering spice finish, this is an excellent entry-level Speyside.
Balvenie 12yr 'Double Wood' Speyside - A smooth and mellow single malt of beautifully combined flavours - nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry - with a long and warming finish.
Dalwhinnie 15yr At 1073 feet above sea level, this is the highest distillery in Scotland. Dalwhinnie 15yr is always on my scotch lists. It is clean and smooth with its sweet notes of honey, heather, and vanilla, meant to be drunk at any time.
Glenlivet 12yr A humble scotch with fine balance, delicate flavour and excellent value. Glenlivet 12yr has a light, dry palate with hints of citrus, peach and vanilla.
Macallan 12yr A deliciously smooth single malt with sweet vanilla and sherry notes. The finish is a delicate balance of smoke, toffee, dried fruit, and spice. Always a favourite among whiskey drinkers and a staple for any scotch list.
Macallan 18yr (Best Whiskey in the World, 2004, Whiskey Magazine) The Macallan 18yr carries a rich dried fruit and vanilla nose with subtle citrus aromas. The palate is rich, deep and luxurious with its light smoke, orange blossom and clove notes. The finish is a balance of sweet toffee, fruit, ginger, and a hint of smoke.
Islay
Ardberg 10yr Perhaps the peatiest malt whiskey in the world. It's strong and dry with a powerful sea influence. Peat, iodine seaweed and smoke rip through this unmistakeable islay.
Ardbeg 'Uigeadail' A fine drop of Ardbeg bottled at cask strength. A marriage of Ardbeg from bourbon barrel and sherry butt which gives a sweet and smokey finish to this malt. Uigeadail is the loch from which all Ardbeg water flows.
Bowmore Cask Strength A full and brawny whisky with hidden notes of oak and slightly burnt sugar sweetness. But don't let copper hued monster fool you, it's big and bold finish will try to knock your 'heed' off.
